The greenest additions to the illustrious Ivy League roster, The Silents, are finally releasing their highly anticipated debut record, Things To Learn, on March 29. The Perth band seem to be keeping it real, yo, by following the tried and tested ‘2 EPs followed by debut LP’ twenty-four month release schedule that indie labels seem to love so much these days. Well, if it ain’t broke, right?

Recorded in California last year with Producer Doug Boehm (Guided By Voices), Things To Learn is promising to be a top notch disc full of punchy pop songs both equal parts garage and psychedelia if the first single, “Little Girl Lost”, is anything to go by.

It’s easy to see why label-mate Craig Nicholls likes these gangly kids so darn much - at the present they’re currently doing a better job than him at making songs that sound like Highly Evolved (until Album 4, of course). Actually, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the throaty scream at 1.04 was a Nicholls sample.
